Incredulous Chris doesn’t believe in magic. Presto Pete, with the help of his young audience, sets about convincing the incredulous that magic is real by performing a series of physics-defying feats. That is the shtick of Pete and Chris Amusements. Their act was part of the Lake George Steamboat Company’s Family Fun Festival held yesterday at the Deuce Moose Café on Beach Road. The festival is part of the Lake George Steamboat Company’s year-long bicentennial celebration.
Children gathered in the shade beside the café as the comedy team made handkerchiefs appear, lollypops disappear and water change color. An attempt by Pete and Chris to cut a young volunteer in half was foiled when the rope they used magically passed through the young boy’s midsection. Following the magic show, the duo twisted balloons into animal shapes for their audience.
The Festival included bounce houses and an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, a market of vendors selling arts and crafts, locally produced foods and craft beverages. The Lake George Steamboat Company Family Fun Festival continues today, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free.
